Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) posted a net profit of Rs 192.7 crore for the quarter ended on June 30 2007 as against Rs 426.5 crore for the quarter ended June 2006, a decrease of 55%. Total income from operations increased 5% to Rs 23,869.4 crore for the quarter, as compared to Rs 22,710.7 crore for the quarter ended June 2006. According to a company release, the results for the quarter have been adversely affected due to impact on account of high crude oil and product prices, which could not be fully passed on to the consumers. BPCL also formed a 100% subsidiary, Bharat Petro Resources Ltd (BPRL) to carry out exploration and production activities during the year 2006-07.
Tata Chemicals net rises 54%
Tata Chemicals posted a healthy net profit jump of 54% at Rs 137 crore in the first quarter ending June 30, 2007, as against Rs 89 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. This is despite, income from operations being down at Rs 1,134 crore as against Rs 1,211 crore during the period. Profit from operations is up 16% at Rs 260 crore compared to Rs 224 crore last-year. Prices of soda ash, salt and sodium bicarbonate were firm resulting in improved realisations. The company maintained its leadership position in the domestic soda ash market with an overall domestic market share of 30%.
MTNL Q1 net down
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has posted a net profit of Rs 110.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 118.28 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006. Total income has decreased from Rs 1,351.34 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 to Rs 1,280. crore.
Bhushan Steel net up 58%
Bhushan Steel reported a net profit increase of 58% for the first quarter ending June 30, 2007, as against Rs 62.25 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net sales increased 19% to Rs 938.03 crore at Rs 787.55 crore during the same period. ?The adoption of new technologies and cost rationalisation measures have enabled us to grow our bottomline significantly,? said Neeraj Singal, managing director, Bhushan Steel Ltd.
TVS Motor net dips to Rs 7.55 cr
Two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Company on Friday a nearly three-fold slump in net profit at Rs 7.55 crore for the quarter ended June 30, against Rs 21.26 crore a year ago due to decline in sales. Total income of the company fell 14.69% to Rs 801.56 crore for the June quarter from Rs 939.62 crore in the same period last year, TVS Motors informed the BSE. Shares of the company closed at Rs 59.65, down 3.89% on the BSE.
HCC turnover up
Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd has posted a 39% increase in net profit at Rs 34.99 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 25.12 crore for the corresponding period last year. The company has also recorded a 26% increase in turnover at Rs 730.58 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007, as compared to Rs 580.62 crore for the corresponding period last year.
Titan net zooms
The company has posted a 216% increase in net profit at Rs 12.64 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 4 crore reported during the quarter ended June 30, 2006. The company has recorded a 48.72% increase in total income (net of excise) from Rs 442.42 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 to Rs 658 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.
Ceat Q1 net up
Ceat Ltd, a part of RPG Group and one of the leading tyre manufacturers has reported 130 times growth in net profit for the first quarter ending June 30, 2007. The net profit of the company stood at Rs 30.35 crore as against Rs 0.23 crore posted for the same period last year. The company’s sales for the period also grew by 8% at Rs 601 crore when compared to Rs 557 crore earned in corresponding period last year.
The EBITDA margin to net sales of the company surged by 490 basis points during the quarter to 9.9% compared to 5% for the same period in the previous year.
GMR Q1 net up
GMR Infrastructure Ltd (GIL), registered an increase of?7.4% in its net revenue in the first quarter of the financial year 2008.?The net profit of the company went up from Rs 65 crore in the first quarter of 2006-07 to Rs 69 crore in 2007-08. The gross revenue from operations went up by?24%, as it increased from Rs 454 crore in Q1 2006-07 to Rs 562 crore in Q1 2007-08.
Madras Cements net up 28%
Due to better mix and increased realisation, Madras Cements Ltd has reported a 28% growth in net profit to Rs 100.56 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as against Rs 78.85 crore during the same quarter last fiscal. The turnover jumped to Rs 471.39 crore as against Rs 343.79 crore, registering a growth of 37%. The sale of cement has gone up by 16% to 14.45 lakh tonne (12.49 lakh tn) during the quarter, said a company statement.
Spice income up
Spice Communications Ltd has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 41.6 lakh for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to net loss of Rs 11.55 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006. Total income has increased from Rs 186.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 to Rs 254.82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.
Phillips Carbon Black net up
Phillips Carbon Black has registered a net profit of Rs 21.9 crore for the quarter to June 30, 2007, as against Rs 0.14 crore during the same period the previous year. Net sales of the company for the period was Rs 234.8 crore as against Rs 227 crore for April-June 2006.
Strides Arcolab net up 110%
Strides Arcolab Ltd has reported 110% rise in the consolidated net profit at Rs 11.58 crore for the second quarter ended June 30 2007, compared to Rs 5.49 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The consolidated net sales grew by 7.2% at Rs 180 crore compared to Rs 168 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
GAIL profit jumps 16%
GAIL India on Friday reported a 15.73% jump in net profit for the quarter ended June 30 at Rs 685.22 crore, compared to Rs 592.08 crore for the same period last year. Total turnover of the company has increased by 4.29% to Rs 4,336.95 crore for the June quarter, against Rs 4,158.47 crore a year ago, the company said in a release.
UTV Q1 PAT up by 165%
UTV Software Communications Ltd has posted a 165% growth in profit after tax (PAT) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007 due to the growing gaming and broadcasting business of the company. The PAT for Q1 2007-08 stood at Rs 9.09 crore as against Rs 3.42 crore recorded for the same quarter last year. The total revenue of the company for the period also witnessed a growth of 9% at Rs 57.11 crore as against Rs 52.28 crore posted for the same period last year.
SML net up
Sanghvi Movers Ltd (SML) has posted a 37% rise in net profit at Rs 14.52 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007, as compared to Rs 10.56 crore in the corresponding quarter previous year. Net sales rose 32% to Rs 53 crore compared to Rs 40 crore during the same quarter previous year.
