Aadhaar has been made compulsory by the government for a host of financial transactions as well as social schemes. However, if your details have changed recently or if there is any error in your Aadhaar data, then you need not worry as you can always update your Aadhaar details. These include demographic details (name, address, Date of Birth, gender, mobile number, email) as well as biometrics (finger prints, Iris & photograph) in Aadhaar. There are 3 different ways you can get your details updated:
a) By visiting a Permanent Enrolment Center.
b) Online using Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). For this you need to click ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ on uidai.gov.in.
c) Through Post. For this the application form along with Self-Attested Supporting Documents are required to be sent to UIDAI.
Who can use the portal?
Any resident with a mobile number can update one’s profile using this portal. Mobile number is mandatory to receive password for login.
What all information can be updated?
You can update your name, address, gender, date of birth, mobile number and email ID through this portal. For other updates, you need to visit an Aadhaar Enrollment / Update Center.
1. For updating your information online, you need to log on to the Self Service Update Portal – http://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update.
# If you have registered your mobile number with Aadhaar, enter your Aadhaar Number to get an OTP (One Time Pin) at your mobile. Enter OTP and Captcha to login to the Update Portal.
# Select the information you want to be updated /corrected. You can select more than one information to update in Aadhaar. Fill the fields with the details to be updated in English as well as in a local language.
# Depending on the information to be updated, upload original scanned (with color scanner) copies of supporting documents as per the Valid Documents List. Refer Link for valid documents.
# Submit the request. For future reference and tracking note down your Update Request Number (URN) carefully. You can also download print your acknowledgement copy.
2. For updating your information via post
# For updating your information via post, you need to download the Aadhaar Update/Correction Form from http://uidai.gov.in/images/UpdateRequestFormV5.pdf.
# Fill the update request form in capital letters and mention the Mobile number correctly. (Registered mobile number is mandatory for sending an update request by post.)
# Fill the form with current details. There is no need to provide details that are no more valid. For example, if you want to update/correct your Name/Address, just fill the New Name/ Address in the space provided in form. There is no need to provide old Name/ Address.
# You are required to fill the complete address and submit supporting PoA even if you want to update/correct only C/o details. It is ok if C/o details are not mentioned in your PoA document.
# You must be available at the given mobile number for any clarifications. Status of application will be intimated by sending an SMS on this mobile number.
# You do not have to submit all the proof documents. You have to submit only the document/s which is/are required to support the Change/ Correction. For example you are not required to attach an Address proof if you are changing your Date of Birth or your Name.
# Mention Aadhaar Number on all copies of documents. Mention Type of Document (PoI/PoA/DoB) on the copy of the document.
# Mark the envelope as “Aadhaar Update/Correction” on top. Seal the envelope properly.
# Send the Aadhaar Correction form along with the supporting documents to UIDAI, Post Box No. 99, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad – 500034.
3. You can also update your information by visiting any Permanent Enrolment Center.
However, you need to remember that submission of information for update does not guarantee update of your Aadhaar data. The information submitted is subject to verification and validation.
