A major fire broke out inside a cloth shop in Chandni Chowk’s Moti Bazar on Monday night, after which 29 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. However, even as the firemen were carrying out their duties, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Alka Lamba reportedly hampered the rescue operation by insisting that she be allowed to climb into the firemen’s crane to take a look at the whole situation. No one was harmed in the whole incident. A senior Delhi Fire Services officer said that a call was received at 9.30 PM about the fire after which the fire tenders rushed to the site of the incident, PTI said. He further added that the fire had spread to other shops as well. The reason for the fire was due to a short-circuit in a shop, preliminary investigations indicated.
