
Child development NGO Plan India has released the Gender Vulnerability Index (GVI) which has been topped by Goa. The state which has taken the last spot is Bihar. The composite index has been developed within research for the NGO's Plan for Every Child campaign which is aimed at comprehensively understanding the dimensions of various problems affecting children, particularly girls, in difficult circumstances. The GVI report was released by Plan India on November 1 during its national conference in Delhi. This index provides a state-wise ranking which is calculated by analysing four issues pertinent to the situation of girls — child safety/protection, poverty, health and education. Take a look at the state-wise ranking as to where each state stands: -
The first place on the Gender Vulnerability Index has been taken by Goa, the GVI score is 0.649.

Followed by Goa is God's own country, Kerela. Kerala's GVI score is 0.625. 
Northeastern state Mizoram is on the third position. Its GVI score is 0.620. -
Besides being the cleanest state in the country, Sikkim has also inked its name in the top five states which is safe for women. Its GVI score is 0.604857.

Manipur is on number five with GVI score 0.60374.

Himachal Pradesh is on the sixth position with GVI score 0.595334.

Karnataka has GVI score 0.592642 and has taken the seventh position.

Punjab features on the eighth position with GVI score 0.585888. 
Maharashtra is on the ninth position with GVI score 0.580309. -
Uttarakhand is in the tenth position and the GVI score is 0.573855.
