On the occasion of Good Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended wishes, remembering the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and underscoring the lessons of compassion and forgiveness it imparts.
Taking to his official handle on X, Modi wrote “Today, on Good Friday, we remember the profound sacrifice of Jesus Christ. May everyone find strength in the lessons of compassion and forgiveness it teaches us.”
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also took to X on the occasion and wrote, “On the auspicious occasion of Good Friday, let’s remember the supreme sacrifice and love that guide us towards compassion, love, forgiveness, and unity. May this Good Friday be a time of reflection, renewal, and grace for all,” as posted on X.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also joined in, expressing hope that the Holy Day of Penance would inspire individuals to lead lives marked by compassion, love, and peace.
Meanwhile, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge urged people to embrace the spirit of humanity, kindness, and peace on this solemn occasion, emphasising the importance of compassion, forgiveness, sacrifice, and empathy.
Across the nation, Good Friday was marked by prayers and processions depicting the stations of the cross, symbolising the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Notably, in Thiruvananthapuram, devotees participated in a procession to Saint Joseph’s Cathedral, with Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor among those in attendance.
