Mahindra launched the XUV 7XO at an introductory price range of Rs13.66 lakh to Rs 22.47 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch comes at a time when Mahindra has emerged as India’s largest SUV maker by revenue and recently climbed to the number two position in the passenger vehicle market, ahead of Hyundai Motor India and Tata Motors. The company said the XUV 7XO is aimed at “resetting” the premium C-SUV segment by raising benchmarks on technology, performance and features.

Mahindra has been the fastest to reach Rs 50,000 crore in revenue in the premium SUV space, driven largely by strong demand for the XUV brand. According to R Velusamy, president of automotive business, the UV2 segment witnessed a sharp inflection after the launch of the XUV 700.

What did R Velusamy say?

“Since then, the UV2 category has grown at a 29% CAGR, compared with 23% CAGR for the overall SUV market,” he said, adding that the growth has been supported by volumes as well as strong validation from customers, dealers and investors.

The XUV 7XO is offered in six variants and features a triple-screen setup from the base variant onwards. It also gets Level 2 ADAS, and ADRENOX+ digital platform powered by a Qualcomm chipset. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engines, paired with manual and automatic transmissions, and an optional all-wheel-drive.

When will bookings and deliveries begin?

Pricing for the XUV 7X0 is applicable to the first 40,000 units. Bookings and deliveries will begin from January 14, while test drives are already open. The XUV 7XO is essentially a heavily updated iteration of the XUV 700.

Mahindra closed calendar year 2025 with retail sales of over 6 lakh units, registering 20% growth and adding nearly 1 lakh units year-on-year.

With rising competition in the C-SUV segment, Mahindra is betting that aggressive pricing, high feature content and strong brand equity will help the XUV 7XO drive incremental volumes and take on the rivals like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector Plus SUVs.
