Tata Tea, the world?s second largest tea company after FMCG giant Unilever, on Tuesday posted a 15% rise in its consolidated income from operations for the quarter at Rs 1,275 crore as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year due to strong performance of brands. On a standalone basis, the company reported a profit of Rs 42.96 crore, an increase of 13.92% over the prior year period. In the same period, total income of the company was at Rs 431.9 crore, a decline of 32.05% over the prior year period. During the quarter, the holding company increased its stake in one of the subsidaries Mount Everest Mineral Water from 35.99% to 40.11 %.Shares of the company declined Rs 5.9, or 0.73%, to Rs 800 on the BSE. The total volume of shares traded was 23,011.00.
REC net rises 73.10%
State-run Rural Electrification Corporation?s (REC) standalone net profit increased by 73.10% to Rs 471.8 crore as compared to Rs 272.5 crore in the same quarter previous year. Net sales increased 46.69% to Rs 1,460.8 crore, while total income for the quarter increased 47.52% to Rs 1,508.9 crore. During the quarter, the operating margin of the company increased to 1.09%.
Bajaj Hindusthan profit
Buoyed by effective cost control measures and better realisations, Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd (BHL), the flagship firm of Bajaj Group, has posted a net profit of Rs 60.08 crore for the third quarter ended June 30. The company had a net loss of Rs 35.41 crore during the same period a year ago. However, the total income of the sugar producer declined by over 15% to Rs 399.33 crore in the latest quarter from Rs 473.14 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
ABG Shipyard net flat
ABG Shipyard posted an increase of 1.94% in its net profit to Rs 47.92 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 47.01 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. The largest private shipyard of the country also posted an increase of 44.40% in its revenue to Rs 393.11 crore during the current quarter, as compared to Rs 272.24 crore during the same period last year. .
RCF’s profit surges
Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF)?s standalone net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, rose by 65.44% to Rs 31.6 crore as compared to Rs 19.1 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. However, sales were down at Rs 843 crore against Rs 1,560.7 crore in the previous period, a fall of 45.98%.
SpiceJet profit at Rs 26 cr
SpiceJet on Tuesday reported a net profit of Rs 26.34 crore for the quarter ended June 30 of FY 09-10 as against a net loss of Rs 129. 22 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Sales for the period grew 11% at Rs 534.41 crore as against Rs 483. 40 crore. .
Sundaram net up
Sundram Fasteners Limited, part of the TVS group, has reported a higher net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 at Rs 17.03 crore as compared to Rs 12.86 crore during the same quarter last fiscal. Total sales declined to Rs 283.60 crore as against Rs 364.72 crore during the same quarter last year, the company said on Tuesday.
Blue Star Q1 net up 13%
Blue Star has reported a growth of 13% in net profit to Rs 41.17 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, compared to the same period a year ago. However, during the April-June period of the current fiscal (2009-10), the company witnessed a fall of over 14% in total income to Rs 539.81 crore from Rs 631.04 crore in the same quarter last year, Blue Star said in a statement.
Alembic net at Rs 12.25 cr
Alembic Ltd reported net profit at Rs 12.25 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 against Rs loss of Rs 4.70 crore posted in corresponding quarter last fiscal. Net sales for the quarter ended June 30 2009 was at Rs 292 crore.
Suven Life PAT up 36%
Suven Life Sciences Ltd reported the revenue at Rs 31.2 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, compared to Rs 31.8 crore for the corresponding previous period, down by 1.9%. PAT stood at Rs 2.1 crore compared to Rs 1.5 crore for the year-ago period.
Escorts net jumps
Tractor manufacturers Escorts Ltd reported 144% jump in net profit for third quarter ended June 30, 2009 at Rs 22 crore as against Rs 9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.
