Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announced the birth of their baby boy ‘Akaay’ on Tuesday, and since then, congratulatory wishes have been pouring in for the new parents from cricketing legends across the globe. One such special wish that grabbed the attention of the internet, was that of none other than Kohli’s idol himself, Sachin Tendulkar. Former Indian cricketer took to X and wrote, “Congratulations to Virat and Anushka on the arrival of Akaay, a precious addition to your beautiful family! Just like his name lights up the room, may he fill your world with endless joy and laughter. Here’s to the adventures and memories you’ll cherish forever. Welcome to the world, little champ!”
Taking to Instagram on Feb 20, Virat and Anushka posted, “With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay/akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world. We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka.”
Virender Sehwag, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harbhajan Singh, Rashid Khan, and Varun Chakravarthy among others also extended their warm wishes to the happy couple.
Virat and Anushka exchanged vows on December 11, 2017, in a picturesque ceremony held in Italy. Their joy doubled with the arrival of Vamika on January 11, 2021. The couple chose to keep their second pregnancy under wraps.
However, the cat was let out of the bag when former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers disclosed on his official YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka were anticipating their second child. Expressing regret, the former Proteas skipper had apologized to Kohli for inadvertently revealing the news in a previous video.
