Signalling that it is on its last legs, Akshay Kumar's Airlift box office collections on day 11 (Monday) fell to Rs 2.53 crore, the lowest in its 2-week run. This has raised the film's total (net) to Rs 105.29 crore, while the tally (gross approx.) has risen to Rs 150.29 crore. The foreign take raises the amount to Rs 185.63 crore. In a matter indirectly related to the film, a new revelation was made about the actual 'airlift' by a former Air India official today to clear the raging debate that refuses to die down about how active a role did the airline play. The official, Jitender Bhargava in a Facebook post on Tuesday, said the operation was carried out with ‘clock-work precision’ and even made it to the Guinness World Records. The evacuation continued briskly with Air India deploying as many aircraft as possible and even the now-merged entity, the domestic carrier Indian Airlines, and Indian Air Force extended a helping hand. AI’s achievement is still a part of historical records, a feat performed between August 13-October 11, 1990.
