'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections are going very strong after having acquired tremendous momentum from first day’s humongous take of Rs 40.35 crore burnishing Salman Khan’s reputation further. By day 7 PRDP collection reached a spectacular Rs 224.19 crore. So, keeping PRDP collection figure in mind, be forewarned, there are bound to be more such theme-based releases by Salman Khan in the future, which movie reviewers slam, but people love to watch. On Friday (day 2), PRDP collections figure managed an eye-popping Rs 31.03 crore. The extended Diwali holiday has truly caused PRDP to virtually mint money and it even got an extra day to make merry, having been released on Thursday.
Read more: Salman Khan' PRDP collection at Rs 250 cr gross worldwide, says Taran Adarsh
(Bollywood Hungama)

'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: The big test for any movie is the day after the weekend is over, Monday (day 5) that is. On this count, the week started abominably for PRDP as its collections plunged vertically to Rs 13.62 crore. Continuing the trend, PRDP collection came in at Rs 12.04 crore on Tuesday (Day 6).On day 7 (Wednesday) Prem Ratan Dhan Payo managed to just about stay in double figures with a take of Rs 10.02 crore. This takes the domestic figure to Rs 165.45 crore, while the foreign earnings boost it to Rs 224.19 crore. As is clear, the triumphant march by PRDP is slowing and with Friday set to see a some new releases (especially James Bond ‘Spectre’), Salman Khan really must be hoping the film has enough stamina to last into the next week. The movie was made on a budget of Rs 60 crore. (Image Source: Bollywood Hungama)

'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: However, in the midst of the huge success, there was a bit of disappointment too. That is, despite PRDP receiving a huge boost by logging an impressive occupancy rate of 70 to 80 per cent in multiplexes and most single screens going housefull, the Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan face-off ended with the latter’s Diwali release Happy New Year record standing intact at Rs 44.97 crore.
Read more: Salman Khan' PRDP collection at Rs 250 cr gross worldwide, says Taran Adarsh

'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: Battles with SRK apart, Salman Khan faced many naysayers about PRDP chances at the B.O. While Salman himself is considered an invincible force with a string of blockbusters to back his claim to fame and fortune, a few people had opined that in this era of plexes, a typical family saga seems archaic and would stand no chance at the box office. But, with Salman Khan, never say never. And that is exactly what he did, prove naysayers wrong to log yet another success in his name – Rs 40+ crore is a humongous amount. 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: In fact, Prem Dhan Ratan Payo had built up mammoth expectations as it was supposed to soar high thanks to the 4-day holiday weekend, magnificent advance bookings in most territories and on top of it, PRDP was a solo release in theatres plus it had no competition from previously released films. 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: So, while Salman Khan’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ did not get to be No. 1 on opening day, it chalked up huge numbers and this gives hope of exponential growth over the weekend. On the whole, with most shows going housefull, PRDP will continue to grow over evening and night shows. This is the case despite the fact that Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) movie reviews have not been very charitable about the film’s content. In fact, the film failed to appeal to the critics who termed it as a ‘royal pain’ and also said that in the film ‘Prem and his family ensure that you are still trapped in the time machine of the 1980s’. 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: Earlier on day 1, distributor Girish Wankhede had said, “The opening has been very strong. It should be somewhere around Rs 35-40 crore (today) as per early estimates. The weekend collection should be around Rs 110-120 crore. The occupancy is 70-80 per cent even in multiplexes, which is a very good indicator. It is festive season, with Salman Khan and Barjatya’s combo which is working”. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the movie got a leg-up due to the combination of Salman Khan-Rajshri films. “The opening is phenomenal across the country. The advance bookings and the buzz so far has been terrific,” he said. (Bollywood Hungama)

'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' box office collections: Earlier this year, Salman’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” took an opening of nearly Rs 27.25 crore and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ was expected to make more than that at the box office. Kamal Gianchandani, CEO, PVR Pictures Ltd, said families are watching the Salman Khan movie and that means a bunch of tickets sold at a go. PRDP also benefits from being a solo release during one of the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar. It is appealing to the family audience as it is a clean film. Not only the afternoon shows, but even the morning shows were flocked to by parents who were watching the film with their children”. (Bollywood Hungama)
