During the Google I/O 2024 on May 14, the world witnessed several significant launches and announcements. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, highlighted the company’s vision for AI.
Google, a tech giant, introduced some key updates to the Gemini family of models. This includes the new Gemini 1.5 Flash, a lightweight model designed for speed and efficiency, and Project Astra that envisions the future of AI agents, among others.

Google launched Veo, a high-definition video generation model, and Imagen 3, the highest-quality text-to-image model to date. Moreover, Gemini 1.5 Pro, a powerful AI model, will be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. Furthermore, about 1 million tokens will be provided for context window and advanced conversational features.
The sixth generation of Google Cloud TPUs, named Trillium, was also introduced, offering significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency. Google also introduced ‘Chip’, which is the Gemini-powered teammate.

SynthID – SynthID is a watermarking tool for AI photos from Google. Google plans to expand it to text and video modalities in future.
PaliGemma and Gemma 2.0 – Google introduced Gemma 2.0, the next-gen open models. Gemma 2.0 is designed for exceptional performance and efficiency and will come in various sizes. The Gemma family will also include PaliGemma, Google’s first vision-language model inspired by PaLI-3.
Gemini Advance – This tool will help you plan a detailed trip by creating customised itinerary keeping in mind your choices. Additionally, Gemini Nano with Multimodality will also be coming to Pixel.
AI- overview – With this feature you can ask Google Search to plan something through video. Gemini will break down the video frame by frame, and Search is able to identify the issue and then bring a solution to it.

Furthermore, Google is integrating its latest AI, Gemini 1.5 Pro, into the right sidebar of Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Gmail. Aparna Pappu demonstrated how Gemini can help you organise and track receipts in the side panel by extracting information from your inbox and adding it into a new spreadsheet.
The newly-announced innovations reflect Google’s ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI and providing tools that enhance user experience across various applications.
