Despite turbulent market conditions, the country’s premier b- school, IIM Ahmedabad completed another successful summer placement round for its flagship Postgraduate Programme (PGP) with 51 new firms joining the list of recruiters for the Class of 2026.The institute witnessed a total of 159 companies looking to recruit students across 3 different clusters.

Out of the 159 firms, 125 made offers to students for 147 roles spanning across 25 cohorts. In an official press release, IIM-A stated the gradual rise in recruiting firms and roles for students – despite turbulent market conditions. Compared to the 12 new companies that participated in 2023’s summer placement programme, 2024 saw the participation of 51 new firms, looking to hire students across multiple domains.

Prof. Viswanath Pingali, Chairperson of Placements at IIM Ahmedabad, said, “This year, we completed the summer placement process in hybrid mode. Once again, we saw an increase in the participation of firms and the variety of job roles as compared to the previous years.”

Amongst the 394 students placed, 38% (150 students) of them were hired by consulting firms such as Accenture Strategy, McKinsey & Company, PwC and KPMG, among many others. Following closely was the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) domain, recruiting 22% (87 students) of the student cohort.

Given the increasing prominence of technology across various professions, new-age firms such as Zaggle, Trampoline Store and Progcap recruited students for opportunities in the Financial Technology space.

IIM-A is also home to the IIMAvericks Fellowship, which supports budding entrepreneurs. This year, 5 students joined the Fellowship to work on their own venture. It is important to note that students can opt to rejoin the institute’s placement process at any point during their fellowship.

In Cluster 1, Accenture Strategy made 6 offers for the Transformation & Operations Consulting cohort, making it the largest recruiter in that cluster. Amazon and Mahindra made 8 offers each in Cluster 2, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was the largest recruiter in Cluster 3 – offering 9 placements.

Companies that regularly recruit from IIM-A’s pool remain impressed with the scope of talent. Nilesh Gupta, Partner at McKinsey & Co, remarked, “It’s always a great experience recruiting from IIM-A. This year we were very impressed with the quality of students and their preparation! Look forward to further strengthening our association with the campus.”
