Armed robbers stormed a Tanishq jewellery showroom in Bihar’s Arrah on Monday early morning, looting jewellery and cash worth an estimated Rs 25 crore. The heist took place at the Gopali Chowk branch, located in the Arrah police station area, and was captured on CCTV.

According to Kumar Mrityunjay, the showroom manager, the robbers not only took a range of valuable jewellery, including gold chains, necklaces, bangles, and diamonds, but also cash. He further alleged that the police did not respond to the showroom’s emergency call initially.

“Jewellery worth Rs 25 crore has been looted, cash is in addition to that… chain, necklaces, bangles, and some diamonds… This is a lapse by the authorities. It was morning time, not evening or night. We were calling the police, but did not receive any response. Two of our executives are injured, they were hit on the head by revolver. There were eight-nine robbers,”  said Kumar.

The total value of the stolen goods is believed to exceed Rs 25 crore, with cash included. Kumar also revealed that two of the showroom’s executives were injured during the attack, as the robbers struck them on the head with revolvers. The robbers were reported to be at least eight in number.

CCTV footage from the showroom shows the robbers barging in, threatening the guards and employees, and then taking cash from the counter and jewellery from display cases. A case has been filed, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the robbery.

So far, two individuals have been arrested in connection with the robbery, and further investigation is underway.
