SIR Draft Electoral Roll List Today LIVE: Draft electoral rolls released on Tuesday under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) show a sharp drop in the overall electorate across three states and two Union Territories. The total number of electors after the SIR fell to 12.32 crore, down from 13.36 crore as recorded on October 27.

The Election Commission said the draft rolls include new voters who sought enrolment through Form 6. However, a substantial number of existing electors who did not submit enumeration forms during the revision exercise have been placed in the ASD category — absent, shifted, dead or duplicate. Their names have not been deleted at this stage and will be subjected to further verification before the final rolls are published in February.

Among the states and UTs covered in this phase, West Bengal recorded the highest reduction, with about 58 lakh names missing from the draft list. Rajasthan followed with a decline of around 44 lakh voters. Puducherry and Goa reported similar reductions of just over one lakh voters each, while Lakshadweep saw a marginal drop of about 1,600 electors.

The publication of the draft voter lists brings an end to the counting stage and kicks-off the next phase, which will involve submitting claims, raising objections, and holding hearings. This process is expected to continue until February 2026.

Where to see electoral draft rolls?

The Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and District Election Officers (DEOs) will provide printed copies of the draft voter lists to all recognised political parties. The draft rolls will also be made available online on the CEO and DEO websites. Additionally, separate lists showing voters who are absent, have moved, are deceased, or are duplicates will be uploaded on the same websites.

SIR draft roll in West Bengal

Around 7.08 crore voters out of the total 7.66 crore in West Bengal are expected to appear in the list. About 58 lakh forms were not included because booth-level officers (BLOs) found that those voters were either deceased, had moved, were absent, or were duplicates.

ECI SIR draft roll live: Publishing of draft electoral roles sparks fresh political battle in West Bengal

The publishing of the draft voter lists has deepened political tensions in West Bengal. Soon after the lists were published, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) accused the BJP and the Election Commission of working together to target voters. The party claimed that calling nearly two crore voters for hearings was meant to scare people and raise doubts about their citizenship.

A senior TMC leader said the party would protect the rights of every voter and warned that there was a planned attempt to spread fear among the public.

The BJP rejected these claims. Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, ridiculed the accusations and suggested that the process had only just started. He did not give any new figures on voter deletions and said he would comment in detail after the final electoral rolls are released on February 14, as scheduled by the Election Commission.

ECI SIR draft roll live: Why voters are missing from West Bengal’s draft electoral rolls

The Election Commission said that the deleted voters list includes people whose names were present in the January 2025 electoral rolls but are no longer included in the draft rolls after the SIR process.

This deletion list has been made available on a separate website so voters can check whether their own names or those of their family members have been removed and find out the reason for the deletion.

According to commission officials, most of these removals happened because more than 58 lakh SIR enumeration forms could not be collected.
