Mizoram's apex students' body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), protested in Aizawl against the Centre's decision to fence the India-Myanmar border and revoke the Free Movement Regime. MZP leaders argued that the British-drawn international boundaries between India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh have separated the Mizo people without their consultation.
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a leading institution for Journalism and Mass Communication, has been granted the status of a deemed university, empowering it to award degrees including doctorates, an official statement said. According to the statement, the Ministry of Education, on the advice of the University Grants Commission (UGC), declared that IIMC has the status of a deemed university under a distinct category. China Development Bank and the Agricultural Development Bank of China will provide credit lines worth 142.6 billion yuan ($19.87 billion) to fund the renovation of "urban villages" in the southern city of Guangzhou, the city government said. The rear windscreen of a car carrying Rahul Gandhi was damaged during the ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', with West Bengal unit president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury alleging that the vehicle was "pelted with stones" in Malda district, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed the incident took place in adjoining Bihar. Iranian-backed Houthi militants launched an anti-ship cruise missile towards the Red Sea, confirmed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The missile, fired on Tuesday (January 30) from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, was intercepted and shot down by the USS Gravely (DDG 107), a US Navy missile destroyer.
