Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the redevelopment work of Gadag Railway Station in Karnataka is going on at a fast pace.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Railways shared a progress report and informed that work is in progress in:

a) Station building
b) Platform shelter and flooring
c)12m wide FOB

Gadag Junction railway station comes under the South Western Railway. Its station code is GDG and serves Gadag-Betageri. It has nine railway tracks. Presently, the railway station consists of three platforms. It connects the Gadag–Hotgi railway line. In December 2008, the Gadag–Hotgi railway line was converted from a metre gauge to a broad gauge.

Presently, the Gadag railway station has amenities like escalators at PF-1 and PF2, elevators at PF-1 and PF2, a computerised reservation office, a waiting room, coach positioning display, a retiring room, free Wi-Fi facility, and bookstall. It also has vegetarian and non-vegetarian refreshments. After completion, It will modernise numerous facilities and offer enhanced comfort and convenience to passengers of Indian Railways.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Indian Railways has embarked on the task of redevelopment of 1309 railway stations across India. Out of these, 55 railway stations (including Gadag Railway Station) will be transformed in Karnataka state of India.
