Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Ashok Vashist, founder and CEO, WTiCabs, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When I’m not working, I find that there’s rarely a dull moment in my day. Even during downtime, my mind tends to gravitate towards work-related thoughts. However, I do make a conscious effort to carve out some ‘me time.’ One of my favourite ways to unwind is by going for walks alone. It allows me to disconnect from the digital world, clear my mind, and appreciate the simple joys of nature. Additionally, I enjoy listening to podcasts. It’s a fantastic way to learn something new or gain a fresh perspective while enjoying some time for myself.
How do you spend your weekends?
My weekends are primarily dedicated to spending quality time with my family and engaging in activities that rejuvenate me. I find solace in simple pleasures like going for leisurely walks, preparing delicious meals in the kitchen, or tending to my garden. These activities not only help me unwind but also allow me to connect with nature and nurture my passions. Ultimately, weekends serve as a precious opportunity to recharge and create lasting memories with loved ones.
What are your favourite gadgets?
I’ve always found fulfilment in more tangible experiences rather than the latest gadgets. My true joys lie in spending serene moments amidst my garden’s greenery or engaging in deep contemplation. However, while working, I appreciate the functionality of essential tools such as my phone and laptop. They help me in maintaining productivity and connectivity while working. While I may not be drawn to gadgets, I value the practicality and efficiency they offer in facilitating my work endeavours.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
In all honesty, I’ve never really considered pursuing another career path. This profession has been my life’s calling, and I’ve dedicated myself to it from the very beginning. However, if I were to entertain the thought, one thing remains certain: whatever endeavour I choose, I approach it with passion and dedication. Whether it’s the world of cricket, the artistry of acting, or the stage of theatre, I would strive to excel and reach the pinnacle of success. Passion fuels my pursuits, and I firmly believe that with dedication and commitment, I can achieve greatness in any field I choose to pursue.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
Without a doubt, my favourite vacation spot holds a special place in my heart – it’s my village, Patherheri, nestled in the landscapes of Gurgaon, Haryana. The tranquillity of the countryside, coupled with the warmth of the community, creates an unparalleled sense of relaxation and belonging for me. Whether it’s strolling through the lush fields or reconnecting with cherished childhood memories, every visit to Patherheri rejuvenates my spirit and leaves me with a profound sense of peace and contentment.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
When it comes to movies, there are a few timeless classics that I highly recommend. ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ is a masterpiece that explores themes of hope, redemption, and the resilience of the human spirit. ‘Cast Away’ is another exceptional film that showcases the indomitable will to survive against all odds. For Hindi cinema, ‘Guide’ and ‘3 Idiots’ are both iconic films that offer powerful messages and unforgettable performances.
Amul’s creative and witty ads have been a staple of Indian pop culture for decades, while SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited) consistently delivers impactful campaigns that showcase the strength and resilience of the Indian steel industry.
