News genre ad volumes clocked five percent rise in January-June 2024 compared to the same phase of the previous year, where ‘food and beverages’ topped the top 10 list of sectors during the said period, as per the half-yearly report on advertising on news genre by TAM. Reportedly, ‘cement’ obtained the first position in top 10 categories during the first half of the current year with a four percent share of ad volumes compared to the same period of the previous year.
As per the report, Reckitt Benckiser (India) and Hindustan Unilever retained their first and second position for two consecutive years. In addition to that, ‘Ultratech Cement’ was the top brand in News Genre, where three out of 10 brands were from ‘Reckitt Benckiser’. It is reported that, during January-June 2024, over 6100 brands were present on Television. Interestingly, the ‘Cement’ category clocked the highest growth in Ad secondages with 41% growth. Furthermore, over 170 categories reported positive growth.
Moreover, during January-June 2024, ‘Hindi News’ was the leading subgenre for advertising with a 19% share of ad volumes. It is also mentioned in the report that, top five channel subgenres accounted for 56% share of ad volumes during the first half of the current year.
