Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has reported a 11.9% rise in net profit at Rs 4,610.53 crore in the first quarter mainly on lowering of payouts it has to make for subsidising LPG and kerosene.

In contrast, ONGC’s net profit in the first quarter of last fiscal stood at Rs 4,118.99 crore. Total income, however, decreased to Rs 14,526.51 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007, from Rs 15,022.72 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006.

SAIL net up 10%

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) posted a 10% jump in its net profit during the first quarter ending June 31 at Rs 1,525 crore as compared to Rs 1,386 crore in the same period last year. The company’s turnover during the period went up by 5.8% at Rs 8,898 crore as against Rs 8,411 crore in a year ago period.

Sterlite Inds net up 30%

Sterlite Industries has posted a net profit jump 30% at Rs 1,142.91 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2007 on a consolidated basis, as against Rs 879 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Total income increased 36.9% at Rs 6,489.23 crore as against Rs 4,738.46 crore during the same period.

Ispat Industries income up

Ispat Industries on Wednesday posted a net profit of Rs 8.37 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2007 compared to a net loss of Rs 111.49 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income (net of excise) of the company increased 10.64 % to Rs 1,859.26 crore for from Rs 1,680.41 crore during the same period.

Teledata net up 315%

Teledata Informatics Ltd on Wednesday announced that the company has posted a whopping 315% surge in its net profit for the quarter ended June 2007 to Rs 188.89 crore from Rs 45.48 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The revenue for the quarter were also up 416% to Rs 1,766.85 crore from Rs 342.33 crore last year.

Thermax net up 103%

Thermax Q1 net profit is up 103% to Rs 56 crore while total income went up 105% to Rs 676.3 crore. Order balance at quarter end aggregated Rs 2,726 crore, compared to Rs 2,449 crore at the same time last year. Consolidated net profit for the quarter for the Thermax Group was Rs 55.6 crore, a rise of more than 114%. Total income on a consolidated basis too grew 100% to Rs 723.9 crore from Rs 361.8 crore.

Wockhardt net at Rs 102 cr

Wockhardt Ltd has posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 102.4 crore for the second quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 63.4 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006. Total income has increased from Rs 414.5 crore for corresponding quarter of last year to Rs 632.8 crore.

Nicholas Piramal net dips

Nicholas Piramal?s consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007 came down by 19.4% to Rs 43.44 crore. Revenues for the quarter increased by 16. 4% to Rs 610 crore over first quarter of FY2007.

RCL net zooms

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) company Reliance Capital Ltd (RCL) on Wednesday posted over three fold increase in its net profit at Rs 302.43 crore for the quarter ended June 30. RCL had recorded Rs 94.53 crore net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2006. Total income of the company increased nearly four fold to Rs 513.77 crore for the quarter ended June 30, from Rs 132.42 crore a year ago. On a consolidated basis, the total income was at Rs 1,176 crore, against Rs 356 crore in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 230%.

Blue Star net zooms

Blue Star has posted a 206% increase in net profit at Rs 22.32 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 over the previous corresponding period. The company has also recorded a growth of 48% at Rs 462.32 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 over the corresponding period last year.
