For the ensuing Raksha Bandhan, a festival of Hindus that marks the love between brothers and sisters, the postal department has released special waterproof and tearproof envelopes for the safe delivery of rakhis. The Raksha Bandhan falls on the full moon day on August 28.

A senior department official told FE that the department has made special arrangements to deliver rakhis through its 23 postal circles across the country. He noted that the ultra-strong rakhi covers have been introduced in four different colors and designs.

Another official from the business development department said that the department in its maiden attempt has allotted the reverse side of the envelope for product advertisements to generate additional revenue for the department.
