The Indian Air Force (IAF) for the first time is hosting a placement fair for its air warriors who have left the service.
Talking to FE, the official spokesman of the IAF, Wing Commander Mahesh Upasni said, “IAF is the first service to hold a placement fair like this in the country. ICICI as the lead sponsor for the IAF Placement Fair is participating with five of its companies in the two day fair From September 22 which is being conducted under the aegis of Air Force Records Office (AFRO), and will be at the Air Force Auditorium premises in Subroto Park.”
According to him, till date 36 companies who have registered include those who are engaged in infrastructure, technology, software, aviation etc in an effort to tap the vast resource of human talent, experience, dedication and loyalty of these men in uniform.
Finding or assisting suitable placements for these ex-air warriors is the main purpose of this ‘Placement Fair’, he said.
So far, Air India Express and Pawan Hans have signed MOUs with the IAF and have already absorbed experienced personnel from the IAF.
On the sidelines of the fair a unique seminar on ‘corporate acclimatization’ would be taking place. Companies like Kalinga Commercial, Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd and Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd are the associate sponsors for the IAF Placement Fair.
Tata Steel, WIPRO, Bajaj Capital, Vishal Retail Ltd, Bhaskar Power Project, Relcom group and HCL infinet are also participating in the fair. Every year a large numbers of highly multi-skilled personnel retire from IAF service after completing their terms of engagement at a relatively younger age group of 35-54 years.
