BMB Madison Advertising
India after London, NY
Trevor Beattie is not new to India, nor is India to him. Yet, his agency Beattie McGuinness Bungay (BMB) that he co-founded in 2005 in London is the youngest kid on the block. But guess what? The kid has walked in with the big daddy of Indian industry Sam Balsara. Balsara’s Madison Communications and BMB are setting up a niche boutique called shop BMB Madison Advertising. ?India is the future. And I’d like BMB to be a part of that future by helping make it happen,? says Beattie. The agency recently won the Grand Prix for Ikea Kitchen Squad campaign at the Kinsale Shark Advertising Awards. ?India has an almost unique combination of a high growth, high creativity market. So after growing the London office, opening in the New York, the time was right for enteringIndia,? says Prabha Prabhu, CEO, BMB Madison Advertising.
Naked Communications
The no-campaigns agency
We don’t do campaigns,? declares Gitanjali Sriram, partner, Naked Communications. ?Instead, we use a number of processes and tools to sort through the business problems faced by a brand.? Naked is one of the niche brands in the budding boutique agency space in India. The agency set foot in the market early this year after contemplating an entry in Asian region for sometime. The agency was launched in the UK in 2000 by Jon Wilkins, John Harlow and Will Collin and already has biggies such as Coca Cola, Vodafone, Nokia, Telenor, Kraft/Cadburys, Unilever, MSN, Sony Playstation, XBox, Johnson & Johnson on its roster. Despite such an impressive line-up of clients, Sriram says Naked intends to learn more from India. ?The atmosphere of optimism is infectious and we?d like to learn from this.?
Wieden+Kennedy
Quest for cultural upheavals
It’s a globally acclaimed small agency doing big businesses. In India, Widen + Kennedy (W+K) remained low-key player till it came up with a eye-catching creative solution for shower gel brand Old Spice. The ad ? ‘The man your man could smell like’ ? not only infused life into the feeble brand, it also won the agency its due status in the crowded Indian market. The ad went on to win Grand Prix in film at Cannes in 2010. Coming three years after this Portland based agency entered India, it was neither too early, nor too late. W+K, as the agency is popularly referred to, already has an impressive line-up of clients such as Indigo, Nokia, Chevrolet India, The Park Hotels, HCL Technologies and Royal Enfield. ?W+K usually opens offices in cities that are in the eye of exciting cultural or commercial upheavals,? says Mohit Jayal, managing director, W+K India.
