
Chevrolet entered the Indian automotive market in 1996 through a joint venture between General Motors and SAIC under the GM india badge. The company, in October 2012, increased its share to 93 percent by buying 43 percent from SAIC and hence became the major stakeholder in the company The carmaker has its products in the hatchback, sedan and SUV segments. The cars sold in India are the Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Sail Hatchback, Chevrolet Sail Sedan, Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Cruze and the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
