Bharti Airtel India CEO Sanjay Kapoor quits
Kapoor will, however continue his association with the Bharti group as a director on the board of Indus Towers and Bharti Global. To ensure a smooth transition process, he will be available to assist the management on key matters until March 31, 2013, the statement said.
Kapoor was elevated as the CEO of India and South Asia in February 2010 after Manoj Kohli moved into a new role of head, international markets. Later that year, when Bharti acquired the African operations of Zain, Kohli started overseeing them.
Vittal shoulders the responsibility of growing mobile market share and margins as also alternate revenue streams including 3G, data, Airtel money and value added services.
Meanwhile, sources said that Vineet Taneja, who is operations director, South India and Sri Lanka has also put in his papers and is joining Samsung.
