Launching an attack on Modi government he said, “Modi government is applying diversionary tactics. We are satisfied with our own religious rules.

Even every religious community want to live with its religious norms, whether it is Sikh, Cristian or anyone else. We should respect all the religions.”
“These practices (triple talaq and polygamy) are specially defined in Muslim laws and we will follow only that,” he added.

Putting his words strongly and expressing disappointment over the situation of Muslims in the country he said,”Muslims equally participated in India’s freedom struggle, but their participation is always underestimated.” Maulana Rahmani also quoted the different sections of Muslim Personal Law Board to back his statements and cited the Constitution of India for equal rights.

“We are living in this country with an agreement held by the constitution. Constitution has made us live & practice our religion. In America everyone follows their personal laws and identity, how come our nation doesn’t want to follow their steps in this matter?” he further said.

Reiterating the board’s decision another member of the board said, “Uniform Civil Code is not good for this nation. There’re so many cultures in this nation, have to be respected.” He cleared the Muslim all over the country will oppose the central government’s proposal to bring a uniform law.

On the other side, pro-women outfits have launched a fierce attack on Board. Activist and founder member of Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan Zakia Sonam said, “What is All India Muslim Personal Law Board? It is only an NGO like lakhs of others. They are worrying that their  arbitrariness will reach on end.”
