Things are getting worse for Congress after the 2017 assembly elections. The party was wiped out in Uttar Pradesh, is on the verge of losing Goa and Manipur and now the reports of rifts within the party are coming out as senior Congress leader and MP from Andhra Pradesh, Renuka Chowdhury has slammed Digvijay Singh by calling the loss in Goa, stupid. The former Union minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Women and Child Development in the Government of India has asked for the removal of Digvijay Singh from the post of party General Secretary.

She attacked the leadership within the party by saying Digvijay Singh must take responsibility for the loss in Goa. She also demanded a free hand for regional leaders if the party wants to improve its current situation. Renuka isn’t the party member to raise her voice against the leadership as earlier in the day another senior leader, Satyavrat Chaturvedi said party’s leadership was responsible for the loss.
Another Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane believes party’s decision-making was slow in Goa. He says it was a failure on part of Congress leadership as they failed to form the government despite winning 17 seats. He said, “cannot identify an individual but there was a failure.”

However, Congress vice-president believes party’s loss had more to do with BJP using money power in Goa and Manipur. “out of 5 states, BJP won 2 and Congress got 3. In 2 of the states, we won democracy is being undermined by them, using financial power and money. Our fight is against BJP’s ideology, what they did in Manipur & Goa is exactly the ideology we are fighting against,” he added.
