Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is known for his command over English and popular on social media for his unique usage of vocabulary in messages and comments, has been trending on X for quite some time. The reason – a comment that he made to someone on a thread of his own post. But this time, it is not any word or phrase that he used, but an expression of shock on what a user commented on his post. 

The conversation has also left netizens thinking what the X user wanted to say, something which even Tharoor asked. The Thiruvananthapuram MP was reacting to a comment of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who called India ” a bit recalcitrant” during an interview, adding that more tariffs could be in place for New Delhi if the Alaska talks between US President Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin fails.

Tharoor said being recalcitrant was far better than being “tractable, submissive or acquiescent to injustice.” “I hear some people are accusing India of being “recalcitrant”. I say, far better to be recalcitrant, than to be tractable, submissive or acquiescent to injustice [sic],” the Congress leader said.

An X user then commented on the post and tried to mimic Tharoor by using complex English vocabulary, leaving even the former diplomat stunned.

Tharoor’s reply leaves internet in splits

The usage of such complex words even puzzled Shashi Tharoor who asked the user what he actually wanted to say. “Bhai aap kya kehna chahte ho? (Brother, what exactly do you want to say?)” Tharoor replied.

To this, the user shared a complex Hindi translation of his English post and then, internet had its day. Some users even tagged X’s AI bot Grok and asked to explain the expression used by the user. 

“Grok please translate the above tweet in simple English,” a user said. “Hey @grok – Please give dictionary definitions of all the words more than 5 characters in above tweet and explain their usage with examples,” replied another.

Not just this, several other internet users made similar complex remarks in the thread. A user said, “I also want to Add a Point in it While the perspicacious obfuscation of the kaleidoscopic zeitgeist may ostensibly perpetuate the quixotic oscillations of a perfidious paradigm, one must nevertheless interrogate the lugubrious confluence of serendipitous anachronisms at the behest of a loquacious yet impecunious platypus.”

Grok calls user’s post ‘delightful nonsense’

A user asked the GrokAI to “explain what @sagarcasm said to shashi ji in his own language”. The AI bot explained the user’s complicated post in yet another complex way, but the ending stole the show.

Grok began saying it was “delighted to elucidate” the social media post. “sagarcasm’s ostensibly profound query exemplifies a satirical abnegation of coherence, juxtaposing egregious verbosity with fatuous grandiloquence to parody the insidious semaphore of impecunious rhetoric, thereby enfranchising camaraderie through humorous abjuration,” it said.

“In essence, it’s delightful nonsense,” the ai-bot concluded.
