Vedanta share price are in focus today after the mining major announced a second interim dividend of Rs 16 per share for the financial year 2025-26. The payout works out to about Rs 6,256 crore, with August 27 set as the record date.
This is the second dividend from the company in the current financial year, following the Rs 7 per share announced in June.
Vedanta dividend: A payout for shareholders
In its exchange filing, Vedanta said, “The Board of Directors of Vedanta (the ‘Company’), at its meeting held today i.e. Thursday, August 21, 2025, has considered and approved the Second Interim Dividend of Rs 16 per equity share on face value of Rs 1 per equity share for the Financial Year 2025-26 amounting to Rs 6,256 crore.”
The company further noted that the interim dividend will be credited within the prescribed timelines.
Vedanta dividend yield
In FY25, the company had distributed a total of Rs 43.50 per share as dividend, making it one of the top dividend payers in the metals and mining space. Vedanta’s dividend yield is 8.84%
Vedanta Q1FY26 earnings recap
Vedanta in its first-quarter for FY26 reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,185 crore, down 11.7 percent from the same quarter last year. Reported profit, which includes one-time items, fell 13 percent to Rs 4,457 crore.
However, after adjusting for exceptional expenses, Vedanta’s net profit rose 13 percent year-on-year to Rs 5,000 crore. On the revenue side, operations brought in Rs 37,824 crore, up nearly six percent from a year earlier.
EBITDA rose to Rs 10,746 crore, supported by lower costs of coal and ores, helping margins improve to 35 percent compared with 34 percent last year.
Vedanta share performance
Vedanta’s share price in the past five trading sessions, the stock has gained about 3%, while in the last six months it has risen close to 6%. On a year-to-date basis, the stock is barely positive, up around 0.6 percent. Over the past year, however, it has slipped by nearly 3%.
At present, Vedanta holds a market capitalisation of Rs 1.66 lakh crore. Its stock has touched a 52-week high of Rs 526.95 and a 52-week low of Rs 363.
