This Christmas, Thursday, December 25, India’s major stock exchanges will remain closed. Both the NSE and BSE will not have any trading, including equities, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB). This is the last stock market holiday of 2025.

What will be closed?

On Christmas day, trading in equities, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives will be completely halted. Commodity markets will also take a break. Both the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will remain closed for the entire day, including both morning and evening sessions.

The market will resume trading on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Trading hours and routine

On normal trading days, the NSE and BSE operate Monday to Friday from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM, with a pre-open session from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM. Saturdays and Sundays are always non-trading days. Commodity markets follow a similar schedule, which is why they will also observe the Christmas closure.
