If you have had to have WhatsApp Business installed alongside the regular WhatsApp for juggling between personal and work accounts, there’s good news. The Meta-owned messenger app is introducing a major update for iOS multitaskers, allowing them to juggle between two separate accounts right within a single app. With this update, you no longer need to toggle between clunky third-party apps or carry an extra phone for work.
The rollout, which kicked off this week, is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing push to enhance user flexibility. Available initially to beta testers via the latest iOS update, the multi-account capability lets users link a second account effortlessly within the WhatsApp app, ensuring that each profile runs independently with its own chats, backups, and privacy tweaks.
Two WhatsApp accounts on one app: How to set it up
Each WhatsApp account maintains isolated histories, media settings, and notification preferences, with alerts clearly tagged to avoid any mix-ups. For security, the built-in App Lock integrates seamlessly, demanding Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode to access protected profiles.
Here is how you can set up two WhatsApp accounts within the same app:
– Dive into Settings in your WhatsApp app and tap ‘Add Account.’
– From here, you can register a fresh number, link an existing one, or scan a QR code for instant syncing if you’re already running WhatsApp on another device.
– Once added, you can tweak privacy for one account to ghost-mode levels while keeping the other wide open for group chats.
– For switching, double-tap the profile icon for a quick flip, or long-press the Settings tab to pull up the full account list.
– If you need to remove the account, the process is equally easy. Head back to the Account section and remove it in seconds.
Why can’t you see the dual account feature on WhatsApp yet?
This new update is still in limited beta testing and is expected to be released to the stable channel soon. Hence, for a majority of you, who are unwilling to try the beta update, the dual account feature could roll out to all iPhone users by early 2026.
WhatsApp status notes currently rolling out
The new WhatsApp status notes feature has been borrowed from Instagram’s bio updates. Users can craft short, visible status notes, making it easier to broadcast moods or availability without a full status post. This one should be perfect for little updates like “Out of office till Monday.”
