Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched Cloud Play, a cloud-based gaming service, that will allow subscribers to play a wide array of games including Asphalt 9 and Subway Surfers without downloading and installing them individually on their devices. The Cloud Play service has been launched in partnership with Paris-based Care Game. Vi will offer the service on trial basis initially before charging Rs 100 a month for full access. Prepaid Vi users can avail the service through a Rs 104 recharge.

“We acknowledge the burgeoning potential of the rapidly evolving gaming realm, with smartphones pivotal in making gaming accessible round the clock and across diverse locations,” Avneesh Khosla, CMO of Vodafone Idea said in a prepared statement. “Through Vi Games’ Cloud Play, in collaboration with Care Game, we invite our users to embrace the gaming future, where the cloud serves as their playground, offering boundless possibilities,” he was further quoted as saying.
Vodafone Idea is kicking off the service with several “AAA mobile games” including Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5, Shadow Fight, Storm Blades, Riptide, Gravity Rider, and Beach Buggy Racing. Classic games like Cut The Rope, Subway Surfers, and Jetpack Joyride will also be available to play on the platform. Cloud Play will be accessible through Vi Web and Vi App. It will work on both Android devices as well as the iPhone. Multiplayer will be supported at launch.
As a promotional offer, Vi and Care Game are offering an “exclusive version of Gameloft’s Asphalt 9: Legends, featuring unlocked multiplayer modes, two bonus cars, and other delightful surprises.”
