The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is organizing the ‘Global IndiaAI Summit’ on July 3rd and 4th, 2024, in New Delhi for the responsible development, deployment, and adoption of artificial intelligence. With the constant critic gained by AI, the government seems to plan to solve this through creating awareness on ethical AI adoption.
Reportedly, the summit plans to bring collaboration and knowledge exchange. It looks like it will highlight India’s aim to bring ethical and inclusive growth of AI technologies.
What to expect in the Global IndiaAI Summit 2024
“The Government of India is hosting the ‘Global IndiaAI Summit’ on July 3-4, 2024, in New Delhi. The event seems to focus on some key areas in advancing AI development. The areas include Compute Capacity, Foundational Models, Datasets, Application Development, Future Skills, Startup Financing, and Safe AI, among others,” IndiaAI posted on X.
In addition to this GPAI’s Lead Chair, India will convene global AI experts to discuss key issues and promote trustworthy AI.
What are the key highlights of the India AI Mission
- Establish a scalable AI computing ecosystem with over 10,000 GPUs through public-private partnerships.
- Provide an AI marketplace for bringing AI as a service and pre-trained models, acting as a central hub for essential AI resources.
- Focus on developing and deploying indigenous large multimodal models (LMMs) and domain-specific foundational models. These models will cater to the unique needs of India’s diverse industries and sectors.
- Streamline access to high-quality non-personal datasets for AI innovation. A unified data platform will provide seamless access for Indian startups and researchers,for the development of robust AI models.
- Promote AI applications in critical sectors by addressing problem statements from Central Ministries, State Departments, and other institutions. This initiative focuses on developing impactful AI solutions for large-scale socio-economic transformation.
- Reduce barriers to AI education by increasing AI courses at various academic levels and establishing Data and AI Labs in Tier 2 and 3 cities.
- Will support deep-tech AI startups with streamlined access to funding. By providing risk capital and financial support, the mission plans to create an ecosystem of AI startups driving technological advancements and economic growth.
Furthermore, the conclave also aims to bring responsible AI development through implementing Responsible AI projects. According to MeitY, the government will be developing indigenous tools and frameworks. Additionally, it will also bring guidelines for ethical, transparent, and trustworthy AI technologies.
