Bollywood is an industry where some actors often follow intense 4:00 am workouts and strict, portion-controlled diets, Akshaye Khanna is making headlines for an approach that is refreshingly simple. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, ‘the Rehman Dakait’ in the blockbuster Dhurandhar revealed a daily routine that breaks almost every modern fitness rule.
From skipping the ‘most important meal of the day’ to prioritizing rest, Khanna’s lifestyle is a testament to doing what works for the individual rather than following trends.
The “no breakfast” rule
Perhaps the most shocking revelation is that Khanna has completely avoided breakfast for decades. While many celebrities swear by early-morning protein shakes or oatmeal, the actor prefers to stay fasted until midday.
“For as long as I can remember, even today, I never eat breakfast,” Khanna shared with Bollywood Hungama. “I go straight to lunch and then dinner. Even between lunch and dinner, I don’t eat anything at all, not even a sandwich or a biscuit.”
His evenings are equally disciplined but minimal. While others might reach for a “healthy” snack, Khanna sticks to a single cup of tea.
10 hours of sleep
While his peers often brag about surviving on four or five hours of sleep to fit in more work, Khanna views rest as a non-negotiable pillar of his health. He revealed that he sleeps for about 10 hours a day, a habit that fans on social media have jokingly called “the ultimate luxury.”
This focus on rest may be the secret to his calm on-screen presence and his ability to maintain his fitness without extreme gym routines. “I value downtime and balance,” the actor said matter-of-factly.
Wholesome meals and a sweet tooth
When it comes to his actual meals, Khanna sticks to a home-style menu that is both wholesome and uncomplicated. For lunch, he typically enjoys a balanced plate of dal and rice paired with one vegetable and a protein source, such as chicken or fish.
His dinner follows a similar pattern, consisting of traditional roti served with one vegetable and a chicken dish. This consistent, no-fuss approach to eating remains the same whether he is relaxing at home or busy on a film set.
Unlike many actors who switch to restrictive diets during a movie shoot, Khanna maintains this exact same routine whether he is working or not. “Consistency is key,” he explained.
However, he isn’t afraid to indulge. Breaking the stereotype of the “no-sugar” celebrity, Khanna admitted his favourite foods are lychees, bhindi (okra), and cake. “I can eat anything sweet,” he confessed, proving that even a Bollywood star can have a relatable sweet tooth.
Khanna’s recent performance in Dhurandhar has seen the film cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark, making him one of the most successful actors of the year. Yet, despite his soaring stardom, his lifestyle remains grounded in realism rather than Hollywood-style extremes.
