Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the high-end iPhone 17 Pro Max soon. For this year’s launch, Apple is likely to introduce a refreshed lineup featuring two new models: the iPhone 17 Air, replacing the previous iPhone 17 Plus, and the iPhone 17 Ultra, which will take the place of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro series is expected to showcase updated design elements. Rumors suggest that both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will come equipped with 6.3-inch displays. The iPhone 17 Air is likely to feature a slightly larger 6.5-inch screen, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to boast a sizable 6.9-inch display.
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max launch date:
In the Q&A section of his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman stated that Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series sometime between September 8 and 12. While Apple typically schedules its launch events after Labor Day and prefers Tuesdays, Gurman noted that this year’s event is most likely to take place on either September 9 or 10, with a slim chance of it happening on September 8. He further mentioned, “Apple doesn’t host events on Fridays, so September 12 is out of the question, and the company generally avoids product announcements on September 11.”

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max design and display:
Reports indicate that all four models in the iPhone 17 lineup will feature LTPO OLED panels, known for enabling dynamic refresh rates and supporting features like an always-on display. Although it’s uncertain whether the always-on function will be available on the non-Pro versions, the adoption of LTPO screens signals a major step toward that possibility.
Apple is reportedly planning to bring back aluminum frames for the entire iPhone 17 lineup, including the Pro and Pro Max models. This marks a shift from the company’s recent approach, where aluminum was mainly used in budget-friendly models like the iPhone SE and iPhone 16, while higher-end versions featured stainless steel or, in the case of the iPhone 15 Pro, a titanium build.
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max camera:
The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to debut a striking new design feature—a horizontally aligned camera bar spanning the rear, drawing inspiration from Google’s Pixel lineup but refined with Apple’s signature clean aesthetic. While some reports point to a pill-shaped module housing the lenses, others speculate that Apple might stick with its traditional stacked camera layout. On the front, the selfie camera is rumored to receive a substantial enhancement, doubling its resolution from 12MP to 24MP. Meanwhile, the rear cameras—wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto—are all said to be upgraded to 48MP sensors, marking a major advancement in both photo and video capabilities.
