Most expensive whisky in India: India’s most expensive whisky, Amrut Distilleries‘ Expedition (15 year Old Single Malt) has been ranked as the third finest whiskey in the world. Listed in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2025-26, it is priced at a whopping Rs 10 lakh.
This marks the second time an Indian spirit has landed on the global map, after more than a decade. However, it was the prestigious Amrut Fusion, a debut for Indian whisky, which was otherwise not a benchmark for luxury earlier. Today, it ranks amongst the most expensive whiskeys in the world.
The Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2025-26
Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2025-26 is an annual guide of one of the most renowned whisky experts with over 4000 tasting notes, scores, and insights. There are extensive reviews and expert assessments of the spirits from around the world, from Scotland, Ireland, the USA, and Japan.
It is the benchmark whisky evaluation with a detailed flavour profile of scoring distillery insights. The ‘Liquid Gold’ profile signals an elite status which emphasises strength, rarity, and balance.
Based on records, the most-awaited title of the ‘World Whisky of the Year‘ is often held by America’s Full Proof 1972 Bourbon. The top single malt scotch was held by Glen Grant (15 years) and Redbreast (12 years), and Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt from Japan, and even India’s Paul John.
“Twenty years ago, we were told India could not produce world-class single malt. We chose to ignore that noise and focus on craft, patience, and conviction. Expedition standing among the world’s finest is not a surprise to us, it is validation. Amrut did not set out to follow tradition; we set out to challenge it, and in doing so, we helped change the global whisky conversation forever,” shared the Amrut Distilleries MD in a statement.
At 15 years of age, Expedition demonstrates both maturity and complexity, thriving in a climate once considered unsuitable for such long-aged whiskies
