Actor Vijay Deverakonda is preparing for the release of his upcoming movie ‘Family Star,’ co-starring Mrunal Thakur. Recently, the Telugu actor shared his views on the significance of awards in his life, expressing his modest attitude towards them. While he confessed to usually giving them away, he also praised Malayalam cinema and emphasised his inclination towards diverse roles and central characters.

Deverakonda’s perspective on certificates and awards

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Vijay expressed, “I’m not particularly fond of certificates and awards.” He elaborated on what he does with them, stating, “Some might be at the office, some kept by my mom. I’ve given away some awards. I even auctioned off my first Filmfare Best Actor award and donated the proceeds to charity. That holds more value to me than a mere trophy at home.”

Vijay’s approach to film selection and audience appeal

Having made his Bollywood debut in 2022 with ‘Liger,’ alongside Ananya Panday, Vijay’s cinematic journey has seen highs and lows. While ‘Liger’ didn’t meet commercial expectations, his film ‘Khushi’ with Samantha Ruth Prabhu received acclaim. Vijay emphasised the importance of catering to a broad audience base, stating, “When I choose a script, it can’t be too niche. My films usually take considerable time to make, and my audience expects entertainment. I strive to appeal to both younger and older demographics.”

Vijay also commended Malayalam cinema for its consistent quality and expressed his commitment to entertain diverse audiences. After ‘Family Star,’ he is reportedly awaiting the release of ‘VD12,’ which has encountered delays. Despite his Bollywood debut, Vijay has yet to announce his next project in the Hindi film industry.
