Kate Hudson’s response to the accolade

The actress, daughter of actors Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, reacted humbly to the recognition, saying in a statement to Variety:

“Being honored by the Costume Designers Guild with the Spotlight Award is so special and meaningful to me. Throughout my career, costume designers have been such incredible collaborators, helping to create authentic, powerful, indelible characters.

From the beginning of my career, I’ve been so fortunate to work with such incredible artists as Betsy Heimann on ‘Almost Famous,’ Karen Patch on ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ and so many others. In ‘Song Sung Blue,’ Ernesto Martinez captured the true essence of Claire, as a performer and working single mother. Costume designers are true storytellers and I am constantly inspired by the artistry, intention and heart they bring to every character.”

Other prominent honorees of the Spotlight Award in the past have been thespians like Glenn Close, Amy Adams, Naomi Watts, Cate Blanchett, Angela Bassett, Annette Benning, Kerry Washington, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway and most recently Zoe Saldana. Hudson will next be seen in the film ‘Song Sung Blue’ with Hugh Jackman, releasing on December 25, 2025.
