Tere Ishk Mein vs Gustaakh Ishq Box Office Collection Day 2: Dhanush and Kriti Sanon’s Tere Ishk Mein, which released on November 28, is holding steady at the Indian box office after a mixed opening. As per early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, the romantic drama earned Rs 17 crore on Saturday, following its Rs 16 crore opening day, taking the two-day total to Rs 33 crore.
Tere Ishk Mein maintains strong momentum
On its second day, the film recorded an overall 27.92 per cent Hindi occupancy. Morning shows were at 12.08 per cent, afternoon at 26.60 per cent, evening at 29.25 per cent, and night shows touched 43.74 per cent. Chennai reported the highest turnout with 45.75 per cent occupancy. The Tamil version, however, showed comparatively lower interest with an overall occupancy of 19.94 per cent.
Although Tere Ishk Mein is performing well, it still trails behind Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, starring Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday. Saiyaara had collected Rs 21 crore on day one and Rs 24 crore on day two. Still, Tere Ishk Mein marks Dhanush’s biggest Day 1 opener this year, overtaking Kuberaa and Idli Kadaai.
Gustaakh Ishq fails to gain footfall
The release of Tere Ishk Mein overshadowed Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s Gustaakh Ishq, which hit theatres on the same day. The film had limited pre-release buzz, and Dhanush’s strong opening left it almost no space to grow.
Despite positive reviews and encouraging word-of-mouth, footfall remained low throughout the day. The occupancy failed to rise even during evening and night shows, a period when business usually picks up.
Produced by Manish Malhotra’s Stage5 Productions, Gustaakh Ishq opened at Rs 50 lakh. Early estimates suggest the film earned Rs 45 lakh on day two, taking its total to Rs 95 lakh. Even after two days, the film is yet to cross the Rs 1 crore mark at the Indian box office.
The film revolves around a young man who falls in love with the daughter of his elderly poetry teacher. Their relationship grows through verses, silence, and lingering emotions. Misunderstandings and unspoken thoughts become major hurdles in their journey.
Set in Punjab and old Delhi, the film blends romance, culture and poetry. As the story progresses, the protagonist is forced to choose between love and the respect he owes his mentor.
Directed by Vibhu Puri, the film also features Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi in significant roles. Gustaakh Ishq is produced by Manish and Dinesh Malhotra under the Stage5 Productions banner.
As the first weekend continues, Tere Ishk Mein leads comfortably with strong numbers, while Gustaakh Ishq struggles to find its footing at the box office.
