With K-drama heartthrob Park Bo Gum helming the main even on the first day of the ‘Grammys of Asia’ in Hong Kong this week, the Signal actress will be taking over the position for the second chapter of the 2025 MAMA Awards on Saturday, November 29. The main ceremony went live at 7:30 pm KST or 4 pm IST. In India, the event was livestreamed on all Mnet-affiliate YouTube channels.
Changes made to MAMA Awards 2025 after Nov 26 Hong Kong fire
Organisers of the show have considerably scaled down the awards night in the wake of the recent Hong Kong apartment complex fire that claimed the lives of more than 100 people in the city’s Tai Po district.
With the MAMA Awards 2025 being held at Kai Tak Stadium, which is just 20 kilometres away from the devastated Wang Fuk Court, organisers have made certain adjustments to the show to honour the victims of the tragedy. Ahead of MAMA’s Day 1 itself, CJ ENM announced that the red carpet event had been scrapped for both days.
Consequently, the ‘Saja Boys’ collaboration, which sought to bring BOYNEXTDOOR’s Leehan, RIIZE’s Wonbin, TWS’s Shinyu, and ZEROBASEONE’s Park Gunwook and Han Yujin together for a special MAMA Awards x Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunter stage, has also been cancelled today.
This decision was also made in keeping with the guidelines focussed on scaling down the event after the deadly Hong Kong fire.
Who is performing at 2025 MAMA Awards Chapter 2?
TOMORROW X TOGETHER, aespa, ALLDAY PROJECT, G-Dragon, IDID, izna, JO1, KickFip, KYOKA, RIIZE, Stray Kids and ZEROBASEONE are expected to perform today, as per the lineup scheduled revealed online beforehand.
The Top 10 recipients of both the male and female Fans’ Choice categories were declared yesterday. Two Grand Prizes, Visa Fans’ Choice of the Year and Song of the Year, were also announced on Day 1. The remaining trophies will be given out today. Read the full list of Day 1 winners here.
