Actor Kay Kay Menon denies Congress party’s ‘vote chori’ campaign, says video was used without his consent. The controversy started after the party shared a video that seemed to show the actor promoting their drive against alleged electoral fraud.
Clarification on the Video’s Origin
In a comment on the post, Menon stated, “Please let it be noted that I have not acted in this ad. A clip from my Special Ops promotions has been edited and used without permission (sic).” The video shared by Congress’s official Instagram page, IncIndia, showed Menon’s character Himmat Singh, an intelligence officer from the web series Special Ops, urging viewers to join the campaign.
Menon made it clear that the footage was from promotional content for the show and was never intended to support any political cause. The party captioned the clip, “Himmat Singh kuch keh rahe hain, jaldi se kar aao! Band karo (Himmat Singh is saying something, go quickly! Stop it).”
Congress Pushes Vote Chori Campaign Amid Allegations
The Congress party has been intensifying its campaign alleging voter manipulation, building on repeated claims of poll rigging by Rahul Gandhi. To gather public support, the party launched a webpage where citizens can sign up to hold the Election Commission of India accountable and support demands for digital voter rolls.
