Deepika Padukone is officially teaming up once again with director Atlee for a major action film, currently tentatively titled AA22xA6. The project also marks her first collaboration with South superstar Allu Arjun, making it one of the most anticipated big-screen events in recent times.

The announcement came via a special video released by the film’s production house, Sun Pictures, on Saturday. In the clip, Padukone is seen discussing the script with Atlee and beginning prep work on set — hinting at a high-octane role that will showcase her in an action-packed avatar. The visuals, along with the caption “The Queen marches to conquer,” gave a glimpse of what to expect from the project.

Sharing the clip on social media, Sun Pictures posted on X (formerly Twitter), “The Queen marches to conquer! Welcome onboard Deepika Padukone.”

The buzz surrounding the film only intensified following the announcement, with industry speculation suggesting that actors Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor may also be part of the ensemble. However, the makers are yet to confirm any more casting details at the moment.

This isn’t the first time the production has generated excitement through behind-the-scenes glimpses. Back in April, a similar video featured Allu Arjun traveling to Los Angeles alongside Atlee to meet the film’s VFX team, hinting that AA22xA6 could be in the fantasy or sci-fi territory — possibly even adding creatures and period drama elements.

While earlier reports suggested a two-hero format, Allu Arjun’s team recently clarified that the Pushpa star will be playing dual roles in the film.

Production is slated to begin in mid-2025, with a theatrical release planned for 2026. The film is expected to be a major event film, given the involvement of Atlee, who last directed the Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster Jawan, and Allu Arjun, riding high on the success of Pushpa: The Rise and the upcoming Pushpa: The Rule.

Padukone’s association with AA22xA6 also comes shortly after her widely discussed exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit starring Prabhas. According to industry reports, differences arose over work conditions, including her request for shorter filming hours post motherhood, a high remuneration, and a stake in the film’s profits.

Now, with her return to an action-heavy role under a director known for high-scale storytelling, AA22xA6 could well become a defining film in Deepika Padukone’s career.
