‘With vibe coding, CEOs don’t have to beg…,’ says Replit CEO Amjad Masad: Here’s why

Masad said, “We have CEOs that finally feel unleashed. They don’t have to go beg someone to do it. They can, like, just vibe code and bring it into a meeting.”

Vibe coding was one of the greatest gifts to the world of coding. With AI models becoming increasingly capable at crafting compelling code pieces, a non-computer-savvy person could now rely on their creativity at writing elaborate prompts and let the AI models do their thing. It is now said that vibe coding has helped company CEOs to a larger extent, letting them get involved in the product development stage with far more ease than ever, without depending on engineering teams.

Replit CEO Amjad Masad highlighted this trend in a recent episode of the “Possible” podcast, noting that executives are arriving at meetings with fully functional prototypes they’ve built personally. Masad explained that many leaders have historically felt “disempowered” by heavy delegation, limiting their direct influence on product development. “They don’t have as much input on the process,” he said.

Now, AI tools are restoring that agency, enabling faster iteration and more hands-on involvement.

Vibe coding makes the job easy for CEOs

“Vibe coding” – a term popularised in the AI developer community – refers to using natural language prompts with tools like Replit or Cursor to generate working code, allowing non-technical users to rapidly create apps and features without traditional programming expertise. The term was so popular that Collin Dictionary chose ‘vibe coding’ as the word of the year.

In the podcast, Masad said, “We have CEOs that finally feel unleashed. They don’t have to go beg someone to do it. They can, like, just vibe code and bring it into a meeting,” he added. He said that a rough prototype allows leaders to ask questions to the development personnel, especially concerning the code development times.

Masad went on to say that coding is usually weighed down by “minutiae” and “accidental complexity”, which are technical details of concern to machines but are usually of far less importance to product development managers and senior management.

“We want to get to a point where you don’t have to code at all. You should be in a creative space,” he said. Masad also added that most of the effective vibe coders on AI coding tools aren’t engineers or people proficient with programming languages. Most product managers end up being the masters of vibe coding, since they can clarify the exact thing to the tools with clear and concise commands.

Google CEO also endorses vibe coding

Google CEO Sundar Pichai had also publicly shared his enthusiasm for vibe coding. In a June 2025 appearance on Bloomberg, Pichai revealed he’s been experimenting with Replit and Cursor to build a custom webpage aggregating his preferred information sources. “I’ve just been messing around — either with Cursor or I vibe coded with Replit — trying to build a custom webpage with all the sources of information I wanted in one place,” Pichai said.

“It feels so delightful to be a coder in this moment,” he added.
