Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ABCD 2 box office collections soared from day 1 itself as the movie opened on an excellent note with an occupancy rate of 70-to-80 percent in the morning shows. And true to that, ABCD 2 box office collections reached a high of Rs 14.30 crore in the domestic market, which was a new record, making it the No. 1 movie of 2015 based on opening day’s take, breaking the previous record held by Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back at Rs 13.05 crore.
On day 2, ABCD 2 collections swelled by another Rs 14.51 crore – nothing great for a Saturday, but still noteworthy. However, it was on day 3, which was a Sunday, that ABCD 2 take really ballooned with the movie raking in as much as Rs 17.51 crore, taking the total in India alone to Rs 46.35 crore, which was again a 2015 record for the biggest opening weekend.
On day 4, the collections fell over 50% to Rs 8.05 crore raising the domestic total to Rs 54.40 crore. When we add the foreign take to the ABCD 2 box office collections, the total jumps well over the Rs 50-crore mark, all the way up to a total of Rs 63.33 crore.
Collections really started plunging from day 5 when the movie managed just Rs 6.77 crore in the domestic market for a total of Rs 61.17 crore. Adding the foreign take took the collections to Rs 70.1 crore. Whether the movie has the stamina to last more than just a week will be clear by Friday next.
ABCD 2 also stars Prabhudeva, Dharmesh Yelande, Lauren Gottlieb, Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathak, and is directed by Remo D’Souza.

The domestic record was inked despite the occupancy rates in Mumbai for ABCD 2 falling to less than 30 percent due to the torrential rain and flooding caused by the monsoon downpour. On the other hand, despite being the first day of Ramzan, ABCD 2 fared quite well in North India. Moreover, ABCD 2 is a family entertainer with a huge fan following amongst kids, and because of this the film is expected to do better business during the weekends.

All in all, ABCD 2 will be ruling the roost this week. As far as the previous releases are concerned, Jurassic World is still holding strong considering its fan base while Dil Dhadakne Do is gradually moving out of theatres with only few multiplexes featuring the shows of the film.
