PSEB class 10 results 2017: Soon after the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) released the result statistics, the state Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary extended her greetings to the students for clearing the class 10 exams. Though the individual results are likely to be announced on Tuesday at 9 am, the board today released the merit list and subject wise pass percentage on its official website, which stated the overall pass percentage this year was 57.50 percent, reported news agency PTI. Hailing the students, Chaudhary said “Their strenuous efforts have borne fruit for which their parents, as well as the teachers, also deserve credit. I wish them well for their future endeavours.” She further thanked the board for all its efforts to provide quality education and infrastructure to the students.

As per the reports of The Indian Express, a total of 3,30,437 students had appeared in the class 10 examination. Out of which, a total of 1,90,001 students passed the exam while 45,734 students failed and 94,271 students will re-appear. The results for 431 candidates have been withheld. The result showed that the girls, who have scored a pass percentage of 63.97 percent, have outshone the boys, who were able to get a pass percentage of 52.35 percent, the report added.

Bringing relief to the candidates who could not perform well in the examination, the minister said the supplementary exams of the students placed under compartment shall begin from June 24 “to save their precious year”. Earlier, the supplementary exams used to be conducted in August-September. But this year, the exams of the students placed under compartment in one or two subjects will commence from June 24. The results of these exams will also be declared by July 31 in order to enable them to take admission in the next class or a new course, added the PTI report quoting Chaudhary.

Further encouraging the teachers who take extra classes of the students placed under compartment after school hours or during summer holidays, the minister said they all will be honoured.
