Aizawl East 1 Constituency Election Result 2023: Counting of votes in Aizawl East I has come to an end. It was one of the most important constituencies that went to polls in the Mizoram Assembly Election 2023. Aizawl East-I Assembly constituency falls within the Aizawl district and is one of the 40 constituencies in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. Voters from the Aizawl East-I Assembly segment cast their votes on November 7 as per the Mizoram Election 2023 schedule. Among the 40 Mizoram Assembly seats, 39 are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST). Notably, Aizawl East 1 is the sole unreserved constituency in the state. The Assembly Election results of Mizoram were scheduled to be declared on December 3 but were deferred by a day.

Mizo National Front (MNF) president, incumbent Mizoram Chief Minister and MLA from the seat Zoramthanga has lost to Lalthansanga of the Zoram People’s Movement by a margin of over 2,100 votes. Other candidates in fray were Lalsanglura Ralte of the Indian National Congress and Lalruatfeli Hlawndo, an Independent. Zoramthanga secured 8,626 votes and Lalthansanga clinched 10,727 votes.
During the 2018 elections, the Congress, holding 34 of the 40 Assembly seats, engaged in a direct contest with the eventual winner Mizo National Front (MNF) and Zoram People’s Movement (a regional six-party alliance) in most Assembly segments. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a distant fourth position in the electoral race.

MNF supremo and Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga gets defeated in Aizawl East I constituency by 2,101 votes. Zoram People's Movement candidate Lalthansanga won this seat.
As his party appears poised to oust the ruling MNF, ZPM Chief Ministerial candidate Lalduhoma told news agency ANI that he will be meeting the Governor “tomorrow or the day after” and the “swearing-in will be within this month”.
Zoram's People Movement has crossed the halfway mark in Mizoram election results as it leads in 26 seats. The ruling MNF is ahead in 11 seats, according to the latest Election Commission of India figures.
As per the Election Commission trend, Zoramthanga is trailing by a margin of over 1,700 votes after round two of counting.
