Last year in 2024, when Donald Trump had secured his Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential race, the political landscape in the US started to go through a major change. His rise, marked the beginning of a post-Trump world, where old power structures were challenged, and global politics took a new direction. Meanwhile in India, the picture couldn’t be more different.

The 2024 Lok Sabha election was another victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For the 11th consecutive year, Modi and his allies were successful at maintaining their dominant position in India’s political landscape. And it is clear in the power list released by The Indian Express. PM Modi, Amit Shah and S Jaishankar have managed to bag the top three spots in the list this time.

Kejriwal, who once ranked at no.18, has now dropped to no. 52. Rahul Gandhi, after being named Leader of the Opposition, has climbed up in his ranking to no. 9.

Meanwhile, the business landscape tells a similar story, with figures like Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani holding their ground despite controversies, new business tycoons like Deepinder Goyal and Aravind Srinivas have also risen in rankings at no. 47 and no. 70, respectively.

On the other hand, politicos like Mamata Banerjee and MK Stalin are making their mark while positioning themselves as some of the key players in the Indian politics. While Mamata has been ranked at no. 18, Stalin has been ranked at 23.
