A driver drove a speeding Mercedes SUV into a popular food joint, Fateh Kachori, in Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate area on Sunday, leaving at least six people injured.
A CCTV camera inside the eatery captured the incident, which took place at around 3 pm on Sunday. In the video, some of the bystanders can be seen eating, when suddenly they all look in the direction from where a speeding car comes towards them and rams into the food joint, throwing tables and a few people into the air. The entire incident played out in just a few seconds.

As the people come to their senses and the driver reverses the car, people start looking for their companions. In the CCTV footage, a man can be seen frantically searching for his wife. At one point, he knelt and looked for the woman under the car. And then, to his relief, his wife appears from behind, seemingly in fine condition. Another man, who was right in front of the car’s bonnet, appears to have suffered a serious injury on his leg.
According to police, the car was being driven by a 36-year-old lawyer. Parag Maini, a resident of Noida, was found on the spot when police reached there. His wife was also in the car at the time of the incident, NDTV reported.
He was arrested in a case of rash driving and the SUV was seized. Police have said that a preliminary medical examination of the driver had found that he was not drunk, but his blood samples have been collected for further analysis.
Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
