In West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress performed strongly in the assembly byelections. The party won the Madarihat seat in Alipurduar district, which the BJP had held since 2016. Trinamool also won in Sitai, Haroa, Naihati, Taldangra, and Medinipur constituencies.

In Sitai, Sangita Roy from Trinamool secured a big victory, getting 1.6 lakh votes, while the BJP’s Dipak Kumar Ray only managed 35,000 votes.
