Aamir Khan Productions has just announced a documentary on the parents of the little heroes of his latest film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. The makers of the documentary made the announcement through the production house’s official social media handles. It will hit theatres on December 19, a week before Christmas weekend, along with James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash.
On X (formerly Twitter), the trailer of the documentary titled ‘Sitaaron ke Sitaare’ (stars of the stars) was posted along with the caption, “You met the Sitaare. Now meet the reason they shine. 🌟” hinting at the inner lives of the actor’s parents and the struggles they faced while raising children with disabilities.
A powerful yet emotional message
The trailer opened with a heart-wrenching question directed at viewers: “In a country where people hide their children with special needs, who would be interested in watching them on screen?” This powerful moment was followed by one parent recounting how they met their spouse, setting the emotional foundation of the narrative. Soon after, other parents shared their own origin stories, gradually drawing viewers deeper into the film’s world.

The couples then spoke candidly about how their lives changed after becoming parents to children with special needs. They opened up about confronting entrenched biases, bigotry, and a society that often failed to understand or support them, as they fought relentlessly to protect their children. The trailer also offered an intimate glimpse into the bond between the parents and their specially-abled children, highlighting their daily struggles to provide the best possible lives for them, while repeatedly being made to “feel small” by teachers, doctors, and others who presumed they knew better than the parents themselves.
“You can’t give up hope. When it comes to a full stop, it’s over. His life is over, your life is over,” said one mother while explaining how as a parent of a specially-abled child, one can’t stop hoping for the best.
Aamir Khan’s bond with the actors of Sitaare Zameen Par
The trailer also showcased the warm and affectionate bond Aamir Khan shared with the cast of Sitaare Zameen Par, offering viewers a heartfelt glimpse into the film’s behind-the-scenes moments. Emotional yet light-hearted and tender, the trailer featured Aamir reflecting, “You try not to get attached to them. You end up forming a bond anyway,” showcasing the deep connections formed during the filmmaking process.
Ending on an uplifting note, Sitaaron ke Sitaare beautifully portrayed the inner strength of both parents and children, showing that they were just as loving, cheerful, silly, and goofy as so-called “normal” children. The trailer reinforced the message that they, too, deserved to be seen, celebrated, and given the spotlight like anyone else.
“I can feel a whole new world has opened up for us,” one parent shared, as the trailer closed on a moving montage of proud, emotional parents watching Sitaare Zameen Par for the first time.
