Indian RailwaysVande Bharat Express has garnered praise from passengers across the country. This indigenous-built semi-high-speed train has premium features and it offers an exceptional travel experience to the rail commuters. The train realizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiative.

In this context, the Vande Bharat Express train operating in Kerala deserves special mention. This is the first state where the national transporter had introduced a vibrant tangerine-coloured Vande Bharat Express train. This new coloured train was flagged off by PM Modi on September 24, 2023. 

Vande Bharat Express in Kerala

Presently, a total of two Vande Bharat Express trains operate in the state. These are – Train number 20633/20634 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat (Via Kottayam) and Train number 20631/20632 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat (Via Alappuzha).

Why two Vande Bharat Express on the same route in Kerala?

The railways has introduced two ultramodern trains on the same route because of the highest passenger occupancy among others. Earlier, speaking to financialexpress.com, B Guganesan, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Southern Railways (SR) said, “It is the highest patronised route amongst all Vande Bharat.”

About Train number 20633/20634 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express:-

The train number 20633/20634 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express is the country’s 15th semi-high speed train. It covers a distance of 588 km in 08:05 hrs. This blue and white colour train operates on all days of the week except Thursday. It ensures faster connectivity from  Kannur, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha districts to the state capital. 

About Train number 20631/20632 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express:- 

The train number 20631/20632 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express is the country’s 33rd semi-high speed train. It covers a distance of 574 km in 08:05 hrs. This orange and grey coloured train operates on all days except Tuesday. During its journey, the train stops at Kannur, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur Junction, Thrissur, Ernakulam Junction, Alleppey and Kollam Junction.
